Position Overview

The Director of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of a private family’s personal & residential affairs. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this individual ensures that all operational functions run seamlessly, efficiently, and with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.

The ideal candidate is a strategic operator with exceptional organizational skills, strong people management experience, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. This role requires comfort operating in a highly dynamic, confidential environment while balancing long-term planning with immediate needs.  Must have a can do “not job to big not job to small” mentality.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all operational functions across residences, staff, vendors, and family-related services.
  • Translate the family’s priorities and the Chief of Staff’s strategic direction into efficient operational execution.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve systems, processes, and standard operating procedures.

Staff & Vendor Management

  • Manage household and operational staff directly and indirectly, ensuring clarity of roles, performance standards, and accountability.
  • Partner with the Chief of Staff on hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee third-party vendors and service providers; negotiate contracts and ensure quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Manage operational budgets, expense tracking, and approvals in coordination with finance and accounting partners.
  • Review invoices, contracts, and expenditures related to operations.
  • Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining premium service levels.

Planning & Problem Solving

  • Anticipate needs, risks, and operational challenges; address issues before they escalate.
  • Lead crisis management and issue resolution as needed, maintaining calm and discretion.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Chief of Staff.

Confidentiality & Discretion

  • Handle all personal, financial, and operational matters with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Serve as a trusted steward of sensitive information and family interests.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Senior operations, general management, or similar leadership experience; family office, private household, hospitality, or luxury service environments strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing complex operations, staff, and vendors.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and contract management.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate nuanced, high-touch environments.
  • Absolute discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

Compensation

$180,000–$210,000 base salary, plus a healthcare stipend
